The Federal Integrity Commission announced it had recovered the fugitive convict, “the former managing director of a company” from the United Arab Emirates.

The Commission’s recovery department stated that its: “tireless efforts in coordination and cooperation with the UAE side and the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior resulted in the arrest of the former managing director of a company on UAE soil and his extradition to Iraq, on the background of a case related to paying bribes.”

It explained that the convict was handed over to Iraq through the Arab and International Police Office at Basra Airport, in cooperation with the Office of the National Intelligence Service, and the Residence and Passport Center at the airport, after completing his recovery file, and issuing a search and international red notice against him.

It indicated that the accused had previously been convicted by a decision issued in absentia by the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, which stipulates ten years imprisonment and a fine, based on the provisions of Article (310) of the Penal Code, and in the context of Article (II / 1) of Resolution (160 of 1983) for having committed the crime of bribery.

It added that the case, which was previously investigated by the Commission and referred to the judiciary

It is noteworthy that the Commission announced, on the seventh of last March, that it had held discussions with the UAE Audit Bureau, which included presenting a draft memorandum of cooperation in the areas of preventing and combating corruption to cooperate and follow up requests for legal assistance and extradite wanted persons, as cooperation in the past months led to the arrest of the former general manager of the Iraqi Trade Bank (TBI), and the former director of the Babylon Health Department on Emirati soil.
