Jeddah: The member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) elected Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as the new Secretary-General during the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The session took place today at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed took the oath of office, succeeding former Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha. The ceremony was attended by foreign ministers from OIC member states.
