Paris: Italian Jannik Sinner, the world number one, defeated Serbian record-chaser Novak Djokovic (6-3), (7-5), (7-6) in a match that was a clash between players from two different generations on Friday evening. He qualified for the first time to the French Open final, where he will face defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the 38-year-old Djokovic faced a player who looks like a younger and more modern version of himself. Sinner utilized his powerful forehands to make Djokovic chase the ball across Philippe Chatrier Court. Despite Djokovic's efforts to make a comeback, he wasted three decisive points in the third set, ultimately leaving the tournament.
The Italian, who recently returned from a doping suspension, is set to face a tougher test in Sunday's final against Alcaraz. Alcaraz advanced after his semifinal opponent, Lorenzo Musetti, withdrew due to an injury early in the fourth set.
