Jazan City Advances Environmental Preservation Initiatives

Jazan: Jazan City for Primary and Transformation Industries is making steady progress towards preserving the natural environment. Jazan City for Primary and Transformative Industries has made significant strides in preserving the natural environment at a high level of quality, through practices, behaviors, systems and legislation, in addition to initiatives and investment in environmental education and awareness. This reflects the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu's commitment to preserving the environment, enhancing community awareness of its importance, and achieving sustainable development.

According to Saudi Press Agency, on the occasion of World Environment Day, which this year falls under the slogan "End Plastic Pollution," the Commission highlighted its efforts to conserve natural resources in Jazan City for Primary and Transformative Industries and implement business models based on the circular economy at all stages of the value chain. It noted that the percentage of industrial waste recycled in the city reached 8.96%, by dealing with it on sound scientific foundations.

On this occasion, she counted (13) specialized companies operating within and around the city walls to dispose of and recycle waste, in addition to (25) environmental awareness programs that work in serious interaction with various environmental activities and programs to activate sound environmental practices, spread environmental awareness in society, enhance the sense of environmental responsibility, and stimulate joint action towards a prosperous and safe environment for future generations.

She drew attention to what has been accomplished so far in planting more than (11) million "mangrove" trees, targeting the planting of (19) million trees along the city's coasts, in a qualitative step that contributes to achieving the goals of the "Green Saudi Arabia" initiative, which aspires to plant more than (100) million "mangrove" trees in the Kingdom by 2030, in addition to (12,800) million square meters of green spaces planned to be planted throughout the city, affirming her continued commitment to promoting environmental sustainability by launching innovative initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life, enhancing environmental management solutions, and integrating industrial development with environmental conservation.
