Jeddah: Jeddah Airports Company announced the approval of the operational plan for King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) for the 1447 AH Umrah peak season. The comprehensive strategy is designed to accommodate the influx of Umrah performers during Ramadan, ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience for travelers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the plan focuses on operating three main terminals — the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex, Terminal 1, and the North Terminal. To expedite travel procedures and reduce waiting times, the airport will utilize 407 baggage check-in counters and 463 passport control counters.
Furthermore, the plan includes the operation of 56 passenger boarding bridges, 35 baggage-claim belts, and 81 customs inspection devices. These facilities are critical to ensuring smooth operational flow and enhancing the efficiency of Umrah performers’ arrivals and departures.
The company highlighted significant enhancements to health and humanitarian services. Four health centers will operate within the airport to provide necessary medical care. Additionally, three welcome lounges have been allocated to manage pilgrim flow, alongside 20 air-conditioned rest areas in the public zone of the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex, ensuring maximum comfort for travelers.
To support these operations, human resources were significantly bolstered. The workforce will exceed 10,000 employees during peak periods, representing various governmental, operational, and security agencies working in an integrated ecosystem around the clock.
According to the timeframe for the 1447 AH Umrah season, the arrival period for Umrah performers concludes on April 3, 2026. The final departure date for Umrah visa holders is set for April 18, 2026.
