Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) launched an urgent humanitarian response project yesterday to provide safe drinking water in the Gaza Strip, as part of the Saudi campaign to provide relief to the Palestinian people. A ceremony was held on the occasion, attended by representatives of international organizations, the local community, and entities involved in the water sector.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project will provide approximately 500,000 liters of safe drinking water per day, to be distributed by water tankers to displacement camps, benefiting nearly 100,000 people. It will help improve access to safe water and alleviate growing humanitarian needs.

The project also represents an expansion of Saudi Arabia's ongoing water interventions in the Gaza Strip. KSrelief previously implemented a project to establish four water desalination plants in the Khan Younis and Deir Al-Balah governorates. The new project will help mitigate the impact of extensive damage to water and sanitation systems and the reduced capacity to operate a number of wells and desalination plants.

Attendees watched a documentary highlighting the project and its contribution to strengthening water security in the Gaza Strip. These efforts, provided by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief, aim to improve living conditions, provide safe drinking water, support the population, and help create suitable conditions for recovery in the Gaza Strip.
