Madinah: The urgent care division, a vital component of Saudi Arabia's healthcare model, is playing a crucial role in enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for pilgrims during the 1446 Hajj season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a specialized interventional radiology team at King Fahd Hospital, part of the Madinah Health Cluster, recently performed an emergency lung catheterization on a Nigerian pilgrim. The procedure was executed in record time upon her arrival at the emergency room and utilized a modern technique to remove pulmonary clots.
The Madinah Health Cluster reported that the pilgrim arrived at the emergency room suffering from severe breathing difficulty, heart strain, and altered vital signs, necessitating immediate intervention. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, where subsequent tests and a CT scan confirmed an acute pulmonary embolism.
The interventional radiology team successfully performed the surgical procedure without complications. Her condition subsequently improved and stabilized, allowing her to be discharged from the hospital and ready to complete her Hajj in good health.
