Makkah: The Ministry of Environment's branch in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the It'am Association to facilitate the distribution of surplus sacrificial meat.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Makkah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture formalized this agreement with the Saudi Food Bank Association (Etaam) to bolster cooperation between the government and the non-profit sector. The focus is on preserving resources and promoting social responsibility. This memorandum aims to manage the process of collecting and distributing surplus sacrificial meat to ensure it reaches those in need, under strict health and environmental guidelines, while fostering social solidarity and sustainable resource use.
The agreement stipulates a coordinated effort between the two parties to manage the receipt of meat from approved slaughterhouses, along with its storage, transportation, and distribution. This will be done safely and healthily in collaboration with relevant authorities, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's commitment to supporting humanitarian community initiatives.
