National Society for Human Rights Commends UN Human Rights Council’s Adoption of Resolution on Protecting Children’s Rights in Cyberspace

Riyadh: The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) in Saudi Arabia has welcomed the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council of the resolution on the protection of children in cyberspace, describing it as a significant step that enhances international efforts to safeguard children's rights amid the growing challenges of the digital world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, NSHR stated that this resolution aligns with the global initiative launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to protect children in cyberspace. This initiative reflects an increasing commitment to upholding children's rights in the digital sphere.

NSHR President Khalid Al-Fakhri underscored that the resolution represents a significant advancement in strengthening legal and preventive protection for children from digital risks and violations, and establishes an international framework that supports the efforts of countries and communities in this field. He emphasized that protecting children's rights is a core issue that the NSHR actively supports and promotes.

Al-Fakhri also praised the role of the Kingdom's mission to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva in supporting and engaging with this resolution, stressing the importance of integrating national and international efforts to advance human rights, particularly children's rights in the digital age.

The NSHR reiterated its commitment to supporting all international and local initiatives to protect children's rights and raise public and legislative awareness of the dangers of cyberspace. These efforts are vital for ensuring a safe digital environment and advancing the Kingdom's Vision 2030 for a cohesive and secure society.
