Nigerian Woman’s Life Saved after Stroke in Makkah

A surgical team at Ajyad Emergency Hospital has saved the life of a 72-year-old Nigerian woman who came to perform Umrah and suffered a right hemisphere stroke. This life-saving case was received as part of the Makkah Healthcare Cluster’s efforts to serve the Grand Mosque visitors.

The patient arrived at the emergency showing some symptoms, including muscle weakness on the left side of the face and double vision. She was diagnosed with a stroke in the brain’s right hemisphere, based on a CT scan examination, and needed urgent surgical intervention. After the surgery, the patient was transferred to King Abdullah Medical City for specialized care.

The highly qualified medical staff at Ajyad Emergency Hospital works at total capacity to offer high-quality medical care; 596 patients admitted to intensive care were treated during the first half of 2023.
