An official source at the Ministry of Interior has announced the discovery and dismantling of a criminal network involved in drug smuggling and dealing in Riyadh, in which 21 suspects, including 16 government employees, have been arrested, according to information from the relevant authority in the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
The source said that legal measures have been taken against the 21 suspects, including 16 employees from the Ministries of Interior, National Guard, Defense, Municipalities and Housing, and Justice, adding that they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The suspects’ various criminal roles included smuggling drugs from abroad, replacing seized narcotics with resembling items before they were destroyed by the relevant authority, transporting, dealing, trafficking of drugs, destroying the legal transactions of defendants in drug cases, and leaking them information about their convictions.
