Manama, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha stressed the importance of joining efforts to hold an international conference aimed at addressing the current situation in Palestine, calling for actions at the level of foreign ministers to issue firm decisions to protect the Palestinian people from the offensives of the Israeli occupation. In his speech during the 33rd ordinary session of the Arab Summit hosted by the Bahraini capital, Manama, Taha stressed the importance of taking all decisions that will enable Palestinians to remain on their land. He reiterated the need to ensure all responsibilities globally to stop this brutal and bloody war and utilize all available legal and judicial means internationally to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people and hold the perpetrators accountable. He added: "We warmly welcome all decisions from the United Nations regarding full membership for the State of Palestine so that the Palestinian people can enjoy all their rights just like other peoples of the world. We should view this initiative and decision positively and support it extensively." Taha underscored that dialogue remains the only way to achieve the desired peace on the ground, adding that the OIC encourages all parties to adopt dialogue to attain the envisioned peace and stability throughout the Arab world. He also stressed the unity and stability of Somalia and the necessity of combating terrorism and extremism, saying: "We have worked to combat Islamophobia and hate speech, and we work with the international community to reduce manifestations of hate speech and other related issues.
