Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, viewing it as a crucial step toward ending Israeli aggression, enabling the return of displaced persons, withdrawing occupation forces, ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid, and launching reconstruction efforts.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the organization commended the efforts of all mediators involved in reaching this agreement, emphasizing the need to continue these efforts to achieve justice and lasting peace. It called for an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This aligns with relevant international resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the New York Declaration, issued by the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
