Peregrine Falcon Sells for SAR106,000 at National Falcon Auction

Hafar Al-Batin:A peregrine falcon from the Al-Dabdaba area fetched a price of SAR106,000 during the National Center for Falcons Auction 2026 on Monday. The sale took place on the third night of the event, which has attracted a significant number of falconry enthusiasts.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the young peregrine falcon, known as a farkh shaheen, was captured by four falcon trappers. Bidding for the bird started at SAR60,000 and quickly escalated to the final sale price. The auction is exclusive to young migratory peregrine falcons caught in the wild within Saudi Arabia, excluding mature peregrines and saker falcons to promote sustainability and preserve bloodlines.

The auction will continue through November 30, accepting wild-caught falcons over the next two months. Sessions are broadcast live on television and social media, providing access for falconers and enthusiasts to participate or follow the proceedings.

The National Center for Falcons supports falcon trappers throughout the capture season, offering services such as regional teams to receive trappers, and covering accommodation and transportation to the auction venue. Each falcon is presented for live competitive bidding, which is showcased on TV and social media platforms.
