Arafat: His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, today visited the headquarters of the General Transport Center of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites in Arafat.
According to Saudi Press Agency, His Highness was received by key officials including His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and the CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, Eng. Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rashid. During the visit, Prince Abdulaziz was briefed on the progress of the transportation system during this year's Hajj season. The focus was on the planning, operation, and control mechanisms managed by the center, which include central operations rooms and subsidiary control rooms for regulating crowd movement and directing buses.
His Highness also reviewed the interactive map of the Hajj service routes between Mina and the Grand Mosque during the days of Tashreeq. This map regulates shuttle transport movements and outlines closure times for each route. The General Transport Center is tasked with organizing and managing the transportation system in Makkah and the holy sites through various operating modes, ensuring functional integration with more than ten government agencies.
The Center supervises the delegation of pilgrims to the Holy Sites Train using a colored card system in collaboration with the Saudi Railways Company (SAR). It also oversees the implementation of the operational plan for stations and transportation routes, and coordinates the locations of emergency centers, with 71 centers and response points equipped in the Holy Sites by Kadana Development and Construction Company.
The visit was attended by several dignitaries, including His Highness Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Acting Deputy Minister of Interior, and His Excellency Director General of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, among others.
