Qassim: Slaughterhouses and livestock markets in the Qassim region are witnessing regular operations and intensive monitoring efforts. Livestock markets and slaughterhouses in the Qassim region experienced a smooth workflow during the initial days of Eid al-Adha 1446 AH. This was achieved through early preparations and direct field supervision by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the region. The aim was to ensure the provision of health and environmental services that protect public health and facilitate slaughtering services for beneficiaries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry branch released a statistical report indicating that the region houses 63 sites for livestock markets and slaughterhouses, spread across various cities and governorates. A team of 38 field officers was involved in implementing the Eid plan, conducting 201 inspection tours on the first day. These efforts led to the issuance of six violations and ten warnings.
On the first day, 6,853 heads of livestock were slaughtered, with veterinarians recording 249 cases of total or partial culling to ensure the meat's safety and suitability for human consumption. Eng. Salman bin Jarallah Al-Suwaine, the Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the region, confirmed that the Eid al-Adha work plan included enhancing the readiness of slaughterhouses and livestock markets in terms of infrastructure and personnel. The plan also focused on intensifying health and veterinary supervision and coordinating with relevant authorities to optimize service efficiency.
Al-Suwaine emphasized the Ministry's commitment to ensuring all facilities comply with health and technical standards. He praised the awareness and cooperation of citizens and residents in using regular slaughterhouses and avoiding random slaughtering practices, which contribute to food and environmental safety during the Eid al-Adha season.
