Qiddiya Investment Company Unveils Saudi Arabia’s National Tennis Centre

Qiddiya: Qiddiya Investment Company has announced the development of the National Tennis Centre, a significant sports and entertainment landmark intended to transform Saudi Arabia into a future hub for international tennis, elite player development, and community engagement.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the National Tennis Centre, located in Qiddiya City, will be the region's largest tennis complex, adhering to ATP, WTA, and ITF standards. The construction, currently in progress, is designed by the globally recognized sports architecture firm Populous. This initiative is part of Qiddiya City's broader vision to establish itself as a global destination for entertainment, sport, and culture, providing limitless opportunities in a contemporary urban environment.

The announcement is a continuation of Qiddiya City's ongoing development momentum, which includes attractions like the Six Flags theme park, Aquarabia water park, and PlayMaker Studios. The National Tennis Centre will feature 30 courts, including 28 hard courts and two clay courts, and provide facilities for training, wellness, and multi-purpose events.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sport, highlighted the complex's role in developing tennis in the Kingdom, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's sports objectives. Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director at Qiddiya Investment Company, emphasized the centre's potential to promote sports participation and tourism in Saudi Arabia.

The National Tennis Centre aims to meet international standards, enhancing Saudi Arabia's presence on the global tennis circuit. ITF CEO Ross Hutchins and ATP CEO Eno Polo have both praised the centre's significance in the growth of tennis. Mohammed Al Sarrah, President of the Saudi Tennis Federation, expects the facility to boost local talent development and participation.

The centre will also house a High Performance Training Centre and provide year-round community access. It reflects Qiddiya City's strategy of integrating sport, entertainment, and culture, offering a venue for various events beyond tennis.

Qiddiya City continues to expand with several entertainment, sports, and cultural assets, including a championship golf course, a stadium, and a performing arts centre. Connectivity will be enhanced by future high-speed rail links, making Qiddiya an accessible destination for residents and visitors alike.
