Berlin: The Quintet on Sudan, comprising the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the Arab League, the European Union, and the United Nations, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting an inclusive Sudanese-led political process.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in a joint statement issued by the European Union ahead of the Third International Conference on Sudan in Berlin, the group expressed concern over the continued deterioration of the situation in Sudan as the conflict enters its fourth year. It warned that ongoing hostilities are driving displacement, worsening humanitarian conditions, and posing a threat to regional stability.

The Quintet stressed the need for de-escalation and called for protecting civilians and infrastructure, as well as ensuring humanitarian access.

It described the Berlin conference as an opportunity to strengthen international engagement and support de-escalation efforts. The group highlighted the importance of civilian participation and called for consensus around a unified approach to advancing a Sudanese-led political process.

It reaffirmed respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity and rejected any attempts to undermine them. The Quintet also called on all parties to support efforts to achieve a durable peace through negotiation.
