Riyadh to Host International Plant Protection Meeting

Riyadh:The 38th session of the Technical Consultation among Regional Plant Protection Organizations (38th TC-RPPOs) is set to commence in Riyadh on Monday. Organized by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases, known as Weqaa Center, the event will run for four days.

According to Saudi Press Agency, participants will include representatives from various regional plant protection organizations, the International Plant Protection Convention, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The meeting aims to review developments within regional plant protection organizations, discuss technical and strategic issues, and strengthen cooperation and expertise exchange among the organizations.

The event also follows the conclusion of the Executive Committee of the Near East and North Africa Plant Protection Organization's meeting in Riyadh. Attendees included Dr. Mohamed Alkuriji, Chairman of NEPPO's Executive Council, and Mohamed Habib Ben Jam, Executive Director of NEPPO, along with representatives from member states including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman, Egypt, Iraq, and Sudan.

Riyadh's hosting of these meetings underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting regional and international cooperation in plant health. The initiative aims to enhance knowledge exchange and coordination among relevant entities to tackle challenges related to plant protection effectively.
