The Roads General Authority is carrying out a comprehensive road improvement project on the Hijra Road, which connects Makkah and Madinah and spans 524 kilometers.
The project, designed to improve road safety and accommodate the influx of pilgrims, involves resurfacing, installing reflective markers, and taking rockfall protection measures.
The project, aligned with the road sector strategy of improving road safety and quality, is currently 23% complete.
By reducing road fatalities to below five per 100,000 people by 2030, and getting to rank sixth globally in road quality, the authority aims to elevate the overall road user experience.
