Makkah: The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association (SASA) is playing a pivotal role in assisting the Ministry of Commerce teams through public service camps set up in Makkah and the holy sites.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SASA's involvement includes a range of tasks aimed at maintaining regulatory compliance and consumer protection. The scouts are actively inspecting commercial licenses to ensure that they are correctly registered with the Ministry of Commerce, complete with the appropriate registration number and date. They are also tasked with verifying the accuracy of product prices, the existence of price tags, and the validity of product expiration dates.
Furthermore, SASA aids in confirming the legitimacy of discounts and promotional permits and ensures that the Mada payment network is accessible to consumers. The scouts are vigilant in monitoring establishments for any violations of Ministry of Commerce regulations, such as issues with product quality, counterfeit labeling, and the possession of items with unknown sources.
Their responsibilities also extend to enforcing price controls within the holy sites, monitoring for commercial fraud, and supporting efforts to distribute food supplies efficiently while organizing the distribution process to meet the needs of the public.
