Riyadh: The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) is set to organize its annual forum next Tuesday in celebration of World Metrology Day. This event will be held under the patronage of Minister of Commerce and Chairman of SASO Board of Directors, Majid Al-Kassabi.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the forum aims to highlight the efforts and achievements of the National Center for Measurement and Calibration, alongside its partner entities, in the fields of metrology and calibration. The event seeks to promote a culture of measurement and calibration while emphasizing their impact on the quality of life.

SASO has stated that the forum will cover several key topics, including an overview of the Law of Measurement and Calibration along with its implementing regulations. It will also present a brief history of metrology in the Kingdom and discuss the role of conformity assessment bodies and accredited laboratories in this field.

This year’s celebration of World Metrology Day aligns with the anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention on May 20, 1875. The convention was established to boost international cooperation in the science of measurement and its applications. The occasion serves as an opportunity to underscore the role of metrology in achieving sustainable development, enhancing quality of life, and advancing various fields.
