Brussels: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) on Palestine, held in Brussels. The Kingdom was represented at the ministerial meeting by Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Manal Radwan. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation to the Kingdom of Norway and the European Union for convening this important meeting and for their tireless efforts, alongside the United States, in co-chairing the AHLC. She also commended the important role played by the United Nations and the World Bank, emphasizing that this continued leadership is highly valued.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Radwan stressed the need to draw on the experience of three decades to correct the course of the Oslo Accords, emphasizing the necessity of moving from managing recurring crises to establishing a credible and irreversible path towards peace. She affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's full support for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803 and the comprehensive peace plan.
She explained that these two frameworks offer a structured approach that integrates lessons learned since Oslo, emphasizing that humanitarian action, security, governance, and political progress are interconnected elements that cannot be addressed in isolation. She stressed that the Peace Council (BoP) plays a pivotal and indispensable role at the heart of this structure, and reiterated the Kingdom's support for the BoP as the primary platform for aligning political, security, humanitarian, and recovery tracks within a single implementation framework.
She also affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to continuing its financial and political support for the Palestinian people and their national institutions, and the necessity of the immediate and unconditional release of Palestinian tax revenues withheld by Israel.
Dr. Radwan commended the role of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa for his leadership and efforts in advancing a realistic reform agenda under extremely difficult circumstances. She stressed that the return of Palestinian governance to Gaza must be based on genuine Palestinian unity and the principle of the inseparability of Gaza from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. She emphasized that this process must be Palestinian-led, with full respect for Palestinian sovereignty, and supported by international mechanisms without replacing them.
Dr. Radwan stated that the situation in the West Bank is no less urgent. She pointed out that escalating violence, settlement expansion, and unilateral measures are rapidly undermining the political and geographical foundations of a two-state solution. She emphasized the importance of protecting Palestinian civilians in the West Bank, stating that it is not a marginal issue but a fundamental element of any credible stability strategy.
Additionally, she stressed that a credible political horizon leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is not a secondary option, but rather a fundamental prerequisite for any lasting peace.
