Doha: Commerce Minister Majid Al-Kassabi has led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation at the 67th meeting of the GCC Trade Cooperation Committee in Doha. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and GCC trade ministers discussed ways to enhance regional trade and economic ties, including negotiations for free trade agreements and the streamlining of intra-GCC trade. The meeting also reviewed the subcommittee's work on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurship, and commercial laws, and confirmed the implementation of previous decisions. According to Saudi Press Agency, Commerce Minister Al-Kassabi also participated in the 8th Ministerial Committee for Standardization meeting, which aims to harmonize standards across the GCC. The meeting approved ten new Gulf technical regulations and the 2025 budget for the GCC Standardization Organization. He also met with heads of GCC Chambers of Commerce and visited the 'Made in the Gulf' exhibition. Commerce Minister Al-Kassabi emphasized the importa nce of strengthening GCC ties and removing trade barriers, calling for accelerated free trade agreement negotiations. He also held meetings with his counterparts from Oman and Kuwait to enhance cooperation. In 2023, Saudi-GCC trade reached SAR 208 billion, accounting for approximately 10.5 percent of Saudi Arabia's total global trade.
