Saudi Film Nights Brings Contemporary Cinema to South Africa

Johannesburg:The Saudi Film Commission is hosting Saudi Film Nights in South Africa from October 8 to 14, featuring film screenings in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program will present a selection of contemporary Saudi films, emphasizing the diversity of Saudi cinema and showcasing local talents. The screenings will include two feature films, "Siwar" and "Night Courier," as well as two short films, "Irtizaz" and "First Funeral Day," which reflect the unique artistic visions and perspectives of their filmmakers.

Saudi filmmakers will engage with audiences and South African media in post-screening discussions and open conversations. These interactions aim to facilitate cultural dialogue and enhance creative exchanges between the two countries.

The event will commence in Johannesburg, proceed to Durban, and conclude in Cape Town. Screenings are scheduled at Lesedi Theatre in Johannesburg, the Drama Theatre at The Playhouse Complex in Durban, and The Labia Theatre in Cape Town.

This South African edition of Saudi Film Nights is part of the Saudi Film Commission's broader initiative to expand international collaboration within the film and cultural sectors. The commission aims to create opportunities for professional partnerships, promote the exchange of expertise, and highlight Saudi creativity and talent on the global stage.
