Riyadh: The Saudi General Aviation Airshow, branded as “Sand and Fun 2024”, commenced yesterday at Al-Thumama Airport in Riyadh. The event was graced by the presence of Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Founder and Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club, alongside Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation. Numerous officials, ambassadors, and aviation enthusiasts from the region and globally attended the launch.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition coincides with the Kingdom’s hosting of the General Assembly of the International Air Sports Federation (FAI) Conference. This significant gathering includes over 160 participants from 90 countries, focusing on discussions about the future of the general aviation sector.
The day’s events featured thrilling aerobatic displays by the Saudi Hawks team and other international groups. An exhibition showcasing aviation technologies and programs was unv
eiled, accompanied by panel discussions and specialized workshops. Highlighting the event, the Saudi Aviation Club and Red Sea Aviation Services signed a memorandum of understanding, granting the latter exclusive rights to provide ground services at the Saudi Aviation Club airports.
This year’s airshow highlights the “Sky Ventures” air show, showcasing the talents of more than 15 international teams specializing in aerobatic displays. Participating teams include the Saudi Hawks and the Phoenix Paramotors Display Team from Poland. Additionally, the “Static Display” aircraft exhibition presents a modern collection of military and civilian aircraft.
“Sand and Fun” is recognized as a pivotal event for aviation professionals and enthusiasts in the region, serving as a platform for experts to exchange knowledge and experiences.
