Nicosia: The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture organized a visit for several Saudi livestock companies, investors, and sector specialists to the Cypriot capital, Nicosia, from February 24 to 28, 2025. The visit aimed to enable the delegation to utilize genetic improvement technologies to enhance livestock production in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the visit was designed to strengthen cooperation with the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, exchange expertise in livestock and fisheries, and contribute to achieving food security in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi delegation explored Cypriot expertise in livestock, coordinated efforts to create investment opportunities, established partnerships, and received support from relevant authorities.
The ministry stated that the visit was conducted in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to strengthen partnerships with global expertise centers and benefit from collaboration in the genetic improvement of sheep and goat breeds. This initiative is expected to facilitate knowledge transfer, develop national capabilities, and enhance the productivity efficiency of sheep projects in the Kingdom.
