Cairo: The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) won awards for best photograph and best investigative report at the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Awards on Wednesday. The 2025 edition of the award was held during the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, with a focus on ‘Arab youth and new media.’
According to Saudi Press Agency, winners were announced in the presence of Khalid Al-Ghamdi, who is presiding over the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, and Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the Arab League Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Matar. SPA received the award for best digital image for photographer Faisal Al-Wehimer, and best investigative report for journalist Bandary Hobrom for her piece ‘Digital Media’s Ascendancy: Youth Information Sources and the Evolving Media Landscape.’
Separately, the council honored prominent media figures, including Editor in Chief of Al-Jazirah newspaper Khalid Al Malik, General Supervisor of the Official Palestinian Media Ahmed Assaf, Director of Qatar TV Ali bin Saleh Al Sada, and development and follow-up director at Kuwait’s Ministry of Information Ibrahim Yaqoub.
The awards were presented by Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Minister of Information of Syria Hamza Al-Mustafa, current chair of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, Minister of Information of Kuwait Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and Arab League Assistant Secretary General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi.
