Riyadh– Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international levels.

Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that over the past six years, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made great achievements in many various fields, according to the plans and programs set in its vision 2030.

In this regard, Saudi Arabia has ranked first globally in terms of the value of date exports in 2021, which reached SR1.2 billion, according to International Trade Centre (ITC), the paper said.

Such achievement indicates the success of investment plans in palm and dates sector in Saudi Arabia, which owns 33 million palm trees and represents 27% of the total palm trees in the world, the paper added.

The value of date exports reflects the government’s effort to enhance non-oil revenues, reduce dependence on oil income and develop the work system in planting and improving palm production, in addition to the leading role of partners, mainly the producers and exporters of dates, the paper further added.

The paper concluded that the achievement confirms that the date and palm sector in the Kingdom is capable of development and growth and achieving great results in the future, especially that the value of the sector today amounted to nearly SR7.5 billion, 12 percent of the agricultural gross product and 0.4 of the non-oil gross product.
