Saudi Representative to UN Chairs UNGA Session on Ending Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo Against Cuba

New york: Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil chaired the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session convened to consider reopening the agenda item titled: "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba."

According to Saudi Press Agency, the session was held at UN headquarters in New York following a formal request submitted by Cuba's Permanent Mission. It drew significant attention and strong attendance, including several ministers.

The UNGA voted on a proposal to hold the additional debate, approving it by a vote of 136 in favor, with nine countries voting against and 30 abstaining. The floor was then opened to statements by member state delegations, with representatives from more than 50 countries participating in the session.
