Saudi Team Competes in 66th International Mathematics Olympiad in Australia

Riyadh: The 66th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO, 2025) officially commenced today on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. The Saudi mathematics team is among the participants, joining 600 students from 120 countries in this prestigious competition, which will continue until July 20.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the IMO was established in 1959 in Romania and is regarded as the world's leading mathematics competition for high school students. It offers a global platform that attracts the attention of top universities due to the participants' skills in logical reasoning, probability theory, statistics, and complex problem-solving.

Saudi Arabia began participating in the Olympiad in 2004 and has made 20 appearances since then. Over these years, the Saudi team has won 12 silver medals, 45 bronze medals, and received 19 certificates of appreciation.

This year, the Kingdom's team consists of six students who have undergone extensive training. Their preparation was supervised by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
