Busan: The Saudi physics team won five international awards at the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad, held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from May 17 to 25, with the participation of 209 students representing 27 countries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, with this achievement, the Kingdom's total awards at the Olympiad have risen to 27-six bronze medals and 21 certificates of merit-since its first participation in 2012.
Established in 1999 in Indonesia, the Asian Physics Olympiad is an annual international competition for gifted high school students in physics. It serves as a regional platform to identify scientific talent and promote knowledge exchange, with participants competing in advanced theoretical and experimental exams designed to assess analytical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
