Riyadh: The Saudi Water Authority has announced a new requirement for all entities involved in water services activities, both public and private, to submit electronic applications for licenses to conduct their operations. This move is part of an initiative to regulate the sector and enhance the quality and reliability of water services within the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority has established methodologies to monitor the performance of licensed entities using various indicators that focus on supply chains, water quality, and usage efficiency. The aim is to ensure compliance with these indicators and the conditions of the licenses, which is expected to lead to improved service quality across the sector.

To facilitate this transition, the Saudi Water Authority has launched a public awareness campaign titled ‘Your License is Easier.’ This campaign aims to educate and guide those involved in water service activities about the new electronic licensing process.

The authority plays a cru
cial role in regulating and overseeing water and sewage service activities in Saudi Arabia by issuing licenses. Its goals include protecting consumer interests, ensuring water quality, and supporting the supply chain. It has emphasized that engaging in any water or sewage service activity without the necessary licenses constitutes a violation of the Water Law and incurs penalties. Entities interested in engaging in water service activities can communicate and submit their licensing requests through the authority’s official website.
