Barcelona: The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) pavilion attracted the attention of visitors and participants at the Smart City Expo World Congress 2024 held in Barcelona, Spain, from November 5 to 7.
According to Saudi Press Agency, attendees explored SDAIA’s digital services offered to government entities in Saudi Arabia, as well as its latest experiences in building smart cities. The pavilion showcased SDAIA’s global achievements in data and AI in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 targets and its international efforts to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At its pavilion, SDAIA showcased a range of digital services aimed at enhancing the digital transformation of smart cities, including the “Tawakkalna” app, a comprehensive national application recognized as a key national achievement. Developed by SDAIA to support the Saudi Vision 2030 goals, Tawakkalna fosters governmental integration and facilitates service delivery to beneficiaries in collaboration with partner ent
ities.
With over 32 million users and offering more than 350 services, Tawakkalna also enables government bodies to achieve their objectives efficiently through seamless technological integration with the app.
SDAIA highlighted the “Nafath” app, which leverages advanced data and AI technologies to enable digital identity in the Kingdom. The app supports various sectors in their digital transformation efforts, enhancing efficiency and accelerating digital transactions. It offers innovative tools and methods, allowing individuals to conduct their digital transactions smoothly, securely, and easily.
SDAIA’s pavilion showcased the “DEEM” Government Cloud Service, designed to provide reliable, flexible, and efficient high-technology resources for governmental and semi-governmental entities, supporting real-time, direct digital transformation under a unified system.
DEEM offers over 50 services, including cloud infrastructure, DEEM mail, the DEEM Smart Platform, and various other features, benefiting more than
180 government entities. It is the largest government cloud of its kind in the Middle East. Additionally, the “Baseer” platform was presented, featuring AI-driven solutions based on national algorithms to support government efforts in Hajj crowd management and pilgrimage operations, fully developed locally with Saudi talent.
The pavilion also highlighted the “EYENAI” project, one of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering medical AI solutions for detecting diabetic retinopathy.
Launched by SDAIA in collaboration with King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH), Lean Company, and the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), EYENAI was developed locally by Saudi AI engineers and experts.
This innovative project represents a successful public-private partnership, marking a significant advancement in medical diagnostics across the region. The solution has already contributed to early diagnoses for over 1,050 beneficiaries.
