SDRPY Engages in Strategic Meetings During World Bank and IMF 2025 Annual Gatherings

Washington: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) held a series of bilateral meetings today during the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. The discussions focused on enhancing development initiatives and partnerships, particularly in the education sector, in Yemen. According to Saudi Press Agency, the SDRPY delegation, led by Assistant General Supervisor Eng. Hassan Al-Attas, engaged in discussions with Fadia Saadah, the Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Region at the WBG. The meeting centered on reviewing ongoing development efforts in Yemen and exploring strategies to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the entities. Additionally, the delegation met with Laura Frigenti, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Partnership for Education. The conversations were directed at identifying opportunities to bolster collaboration in supporting Yemen's education sector. The SDRPY highlighted its 56 projects and initiatives in education, which include the construction of model schools, development of universities, establishment of colleges and institutes, and enhancement of laboratories. These initiatives aim at improving education quality and increasing learning opportunities across Yemen's governorates. SDRPY's involvement in the Annual Meetings of the WBG and IMF aligns with its continuous mission to enhance cooperation and partnerships that support Yemen's development process. To date, the program has implemented 265 development projects and initiatives across eight key sectors in various governorates throughout Yemen. The program actively collaborates with local, regional, and international partners such as the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Additionally, SDRPY works closely with the WBG on numerous development projects, including the Lifeline Project, which serves as a model of international development cooperation and highlights the strong partnership between the WBG and SDRPY in advancing sustainable development initiatives in Yemen.
