Riyadh: The development projects and initiatives spearheaded by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) have significantly contributed to the economic empowerment of Yemeni women, youth, and communities by investing in human capital, supporting livelihoods, and bolstering rural resilience.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the programs are centered around building the capacities of local communities across various fields, offering training, consultancy, and rehabilitation support for individuals in many crucial sectors. These efforts aim to harness the potential of Yemeni youth, enabling them to improve their lives, serve their communities, and build a promising future.

One notable initiative is the “Building the Future for Yemeni Youth” program, which connects young Yemenis to the labor market by equipping them with necessary skills to create projects that meet local needs. This program specifically targeted university students in their final years and aspiring entrepreneurs, succ
essfully graduating 678 young men and women in different professional fields and linking them to job opportunities, thereby empowering them to start their own businesses.

In addition, the “Saba Project for the Economic Empowerment of Yemeni Women” has made strides by establishing the first women’s business incubator in Marib. This project has trained 60 women, providing them with the skills needed to launch their own projects.

In the education sector, SDRPY’s “Access to Education in Rural Areas” project aims to provide 150 girls with a higher diploma, preparing them to teach in public schools. This initiative is part of SDRPY’s broader commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes for Yemeni youth.

Furthermore, the “Using Renewable Energy to Improve Quality of Life Project” has concluded with significant achievements. It provides water using solar-powered systems, solar-powered irrigation systems for agriculture, and energy to educational and healthcare facilities. This project contributes
to increasing agricultural production, improving food security, and protecting the environment by reducing carbon emissions while providing a sustainable energy source. Over 62,000 people across five Yemeni governorates have benefited from this initiative.

These programs and initiatives are a part of 263 projects and initiatives that SDRPY has implemented across eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, strengthening the Yemeni government’s capacities, and development programs in various Yemeni governorates.
