Seoul: The 11th session of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Award for Translation was held yesterday in Seoul at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, with the participation of Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan, Hankuk University's President Jeong-Woon Park, and leading academics and intellectuals. In his opening remarks, Al-Benyan stressed that the event reflects the Kingdom's commitment to science and knowledge under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that the commitment is embodied in various knowledge initiatives and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to invest in people and science, further boosting the Kingdom's global presence.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the minister added that hosting the award in Korea this year, in cooperation with Hankuk University, highlights the Saudi-Korean joint vision and embodies the values of human communication and constructive cultural exchange between nations. He emphasized that translation is one of the most crucial bridges of understanding among people and a vital tool for fostering respect and openness toward diverse cultures.

Al-Benyan called on universities, research centers, and academic chairs to give greater attention to translation by rendering distinguished research and studies from world languages into Arabic, thus enriching local scientific content and supporting the Kingdom's shift toward a knowledge economy. At the conclusion of the ceremony, winners in various categories were honored.

The award was withheld in two categories, natural sciences from Arabic into other languages, and institutional and organizational contributions, as the nominated works did not meet the required standards.
