Riyadh: A panel session titled ‘Space-Up Competition,’ held today as part of the exhibition accompanying the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25) hosted by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission in Riyadh, highlighted the competition’s contribution to developing advanced solutions to address challenges facing vital sectors through the use of space technologies.
According to Saudi Press Agency, speakers discussed the Kingdom’s aspirations to build an integrated space ecosystem, pointing to the rapid growth of satellite communications and their impact on environmental issues. They emphasized that the use of space technologies represents a pioneering qualitative leap, highlighting some of the key applications adopted by the Kingdom in this field, including the use of satellite imagery for discovery, inventorying national assets, and monitoring road conditions.
They noted that the global space-up competition, organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission in partnership with the Saudi Space Agency and Neo Space Group, contributes to boosting space entrepreneurship, supporting local companies specializing in space technologies, attracting global startups and small and medium enterprises, and encouraging the adoption of space-based solutions that serve vital sectors.
