Sessions of ‘Communication with the Departments of Religious Affairs, Ifta’ and Sheikhdoms in the World’ Conference Concluded in Makkah

The two-day International conference “Communication with the Departments of Religious Affairs, Ifta’s and Sheikhdoms in the World”, which was held over the past two days in Makkah under the theme “Communication and Integration”, was organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and brought together 150 scholars and muftis from 85 countries concluded today.

In one of the sessions of the conference, titled “Moderation in the Book and the Sunnah, Roots and Efforts” chaired by Dr. Mohammed Fahd Al-Farih, a faculty member at the Higher Judicial Institute, President of the Ahl al-Hadith Association in Pakistan Sheikh Sajid Mir discussed the concept of moderation and Ahl al-Hadith Association efforts to ingrain this concept in the Pakistani society and to fight extremism.

Dr. Bassem Fadl Al-Jawabra, professor of Hadith at the School of Sharia at the University of Jordan, said that “moderation and facilitation are the most important things that distinguish Islam from other religions, and Muslims must not deviate from this concept”.

Dr. Mohamed Traore, a member of the Burkina Faso Scholars Association, praised the Kingdom’s efforts, saying: “They educated us when we were young and stood with us as adults,” referring to the Kingdom’s approach in spreading moderation and tolerance.

Commissioner of Iftaa in Makkah Dr. Mohammed Omar Bazmoul had a presentation titled “Efforts of the Departments of Religious Affairs and Sheikhdoms in the World and their Equivalents in Combating Extremism and Terrorism”, while yet another session, held under the title “Efforts of the Departments of Religious Affairs and Sheikhdoms in the World and their Equivalents in Protecting Society from Atheism and Degeneration”, underlined the negative impact of atheism and degeneration on societies.
