Djibouti: The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and the government of Djibouti have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to fund the rehabilitation of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Dialysis Center in Djibouti. The grant, valued at SAR 6 million, was signed by SFD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sultan Al-Marshad and Djibouti's Minister of Economy and Finance Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh. According to Saudi Press Agency, the signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was attended by Djibouti's Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Robleh Abdullah, Saudi Ambassador to Djibouti Faisal bin Sultan Al-Qabbani, and Djibouti's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dya-Eddine Saïd Bamakhrama. The rehabilitation project aims to improve beneficiaries' access to high-quality medical services and dialysis treatments in Djibouti. It will address the centre's challenges, enhance its medical infrastructure, and ensure that it meets the highest healthcare and disease prevention standards. The project is aligned with S audi Arabia's commitment to supporting Djibouti's health sector and its broader goal of fostering sustainable development in the country. During the event, Al-Marshad also met with Djibouti's Minister of Health to review the centre's current operations and the planned rehabilitation efforts. This MoU reinforces the longstanding cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti, underscoring the importance of solidarity between the two nations in achieving sustainable development. The Saudi Fund for Development envisions itself as a strategic partner in advancing economic growth in developing countries, particularly by funding infrastructure projects and fostering development through grants and soft loans. Since 1982, the Saudi Fund for Development has financed 15 development projects and programs in Djibouti, totalling over $305 million. In addition, the Kingdom has provided over $99 million in grants through the Fund to support Djibouti's economic and social growth, improve living conditions, and build knowle dge and capacity within the country. These efforts create diverse opportunities for Djibouti's population, helping the nation achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth.
