Baghdad (NINA) – The South Korean city of Busan launched its campaign to host (Expo 2030) during its participation in the Korea Innovation Fair 2022, which was held yesterday at the Dubai Exhibition Center at (Expo 2020 Dubai) and concludes today, on the sidelines of the celebration of the South Korean National Day.

The exhibition provided an extensive overview of the Korean city of Busan, including culture, history, tourism, and the advantages of this city, which is the second largest city in South Korea, and is transforming into a global city enjoying openness, hospitality and diversity. Busan seeks to transform into a futuristic, environmentally friendly smart city using Korean digital technology.

Busan is competing with 4 other global cities that have been nominated to host the (Expo 2030) exhibition, which will be held from October 1, 2030 to April 1, 2031, which is Riyadh – Saudi Arabia; Odessa – Ukraine; Rome – Italy and Moscow – Russia.

General Manager of Tourism in Busan, Yuyang Chu, said that competition will be fierce among the five cities to host “Expo 2030” because all of them have a good global reputation and each has strengths on which to base it in various fields, especially its historical status, noting that hosting a global event of this size would be an unreal achievement preceded by his city.

He added, “The World Expo 2030 will be a great place to build consensus among developed and emerging economies. Having made the successful journey from a developing country to a developed country, Korea is in a better position to bridge the gap, and world exhibitions have always provided a new vision of human potential and Expo 2030 will be the site of Forum for cooperation that addresses global challenges.

Meanwhile, the world-renowned BTS group, which has paused group activities to focus on their solo activities, announced some good news for fans. As Bts will be returning to group activities soon, they accepted the mayor’s offer of Busan to promote the exhibition of the Busan World Expo 2030 as official Ambassadors.

The Busan city government is planning to win the second competition bid (PT) for the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) to be held in Paris, France, and Busan should be in an advantageous position to host the exhibition because BTS, the most popular group in the world, will participate as the Ambassador of the exhibition.

BTS will return to their group activities with the Busan World Expo 2023.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon said in an interview with Busan Daily on the same day, “With actor Lee Jong-jae, ROZY, and BTS, the interest and enthusiasm for Busan World Expo 2030 will increase greatly.”

BTS received an offer to fulfill the role of ambassadors at the Busan World Expo 2030 and is currently studying various offers for the team’s activities, and this offer is one of them, and it is an important role for the success of the event as a whole, and therefore the offer is viewed positively.”
