Mecca: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has named its electric ambulance wheelchair, operating at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, 'Rufaidah,' drawing inspiration from the life of Rufaidah bint Saad al-Aslamia. She was recognized for her pivotal role in organizing medical care for the wounded during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the early days of Islam.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the electric wheelchair serves as a compact field ambulance unit, specifically designed for densely populated environments. Its small size and high maneuverability allow paramedics to quickly reach emergency cases through narrow passages that are often inaccessible to traditional vehicles.
The authority confirmed that the unit is operated by qualified field personnel who have completed specialized training programs in line with approved medical protocols, ensuring its safe and effective use in a variety of emergency situations.
