Riyadh: Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) President Dr. Ahmed Al-Ameri received Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Syrian Arab Republic Dr. Marwan Jamil Al-Halabi and his accompanying delegation in his office today. During the reception, Al-Ameri affirmed the university's commitment to establishing strategic partnerships with Syrian universities through faculty and student exchanges, as well as initiating joint programs and projects aimed at fostering development in both countries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Syrian minister commended the Kingdom's ongoing support for Syria across multiple sectors. He outlined the current state of higher education in Syria, highlighting more than one million students enrolled in nine public universities, most notably Damascus University, in addition to 39 private institutions.
He noted that the ministry is actively addressing recent challenges, including the loss of academic expertise and limitations on academic freedom, by focusing on developing institutional frameworks, promoting scientific research, and advancing digital transformation.
Al-Halabi expressed eagerness to benefit from IMSIU's expertise in these fields and collaborate on adopting academic programs and curricula, along with exchanging academic and research knowledge.
