Taiz Governor Acknowledges KSrelief’s Role in Humanitarian Support

Taiz: Governor Nabil Shamsan commended the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in supporting humanitarian sectors, highlighting their contribution to alleviating the suffering of residents in Taiz governorate.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the governor's remarks came during a field visit to evaluate the progress of drilling three water wells in Wadi Aman in the Al-Dabab area. This initiative is part of a project aimed at sustainably enhancing safe and clean water sources for the residents of Taiz City, funded by KSrelief. During the visit, Governor Shamsan reviewed the project's technical components and implementation phases.

The governor received a briefing from project officials regarding the production capacity of the wells, which is estimated at approximately 50 cubic meters per hour. These wells are anticipated to bolster the water supply system and help meet the city's increasing water demands.

He emphasized the importance of this project, noting that it represents a significant enhancement to the water sector in the governorate and will improve the quality of basic services provided to residents.

The project involves the drilling of three artesian wells, each with an average depth of 400 meters, equipping them with pumping units and technical accessories, and integrating solar power systems to ensure continuous operation while reducing reliance on petroleum derivatives. Additionally, solar energy systems will be supplied, installed, and operated for three existing wells to enhance their efficiency.

The initiative also includes training for technical staff from the Taiz Local Water and Sanitation Corporation on managing, operating, and maintaining water systems to ensure service sustainability. Furthermore, community awareness campaigns will be conducted on the rational use of water and protecting water sources from pollution.

This program is part of the broader humanitarian and development efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to improve water services and enhance living conditions for beneficiaries in Yemen.
