Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn officially appointed today Paetongtarn Shinawatra as prime minister, replacing Srettha Thavisin dismissed by the Constitutional Court for violating regulations.
The royal decree, read by Secretary-General of the Thai House of Representatives Arpat Sukanan, stated that Paetongtarn was appointed premier after receiving a majority vote in parliament on August 16.
Paetongtarn, 37, is the youngest person and the second woman to hold the position of prime minister in Thailand.
