Turkish Parliament Speaker calls for preventing Israel from dragging the region into a regional war

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus said that “the reckless Israeli aggression on Lebanon” is pushing the region towards a regional war, and called for putting an end to this recklessness.

He added in a speech today, Monday, during the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, in the Swiss city of Geneva: “The Israeli genocide in Gaza, supported by artificial intelligence, has reached terrifying levels.”

He pointed out that Israel is using technology to launch random attacks on Palestinian civilians.

He called for condemning this type of use of technology and confronting it “not only out of legal obligation but also out of moral obligation.”

The Turkish Parliament Speaker called for the formation of monitoring mechanisms for the exploitation of advanced technology, similar to those in place to control the use of nuclear weapons.

He pointed out that the catastrophic situation in Palestine is alarming, especially with the martyrdom of tens of thousands of Palestinians and the injury o
f others, while large numbers of them are still under the rubble in Gaza.

Kurtulmus warned that Gaza has become a “ghost town”, coinciding with Israel reaching the peak of “occupation, brutality and denial of the most basic principles of human rights” that it has been practicing for decades.

He stressed the need to stop “the war of genocide waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, and to stop the occupation and colonization of Palestinian lands.”

He also called for the mutual release of all prisoners and detainees, and ensuring access to humanitarian aid.

Kurtulmus concluded his speech by stressing that the two-state solution is the only formula for peace and security in the region, calling for support for the recognition of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state on the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital
