The US State Department confirmed that the killing of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, was an exclusively Israeli operation without US intervention.
It said in a statement: One of our goals is to unify the West Bank and Gaza under one leadership chosen by the Palestinians and no one else.
The US State Department explained: We want Israel to withdraw completely from Gaza and we do not accept its reoccupation.
