White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced today that US President Joe Biden “has no intention” of meeting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the G20 summit scheduled for next month in Indonesia.

Sullivan responded, via CNN, to a question about the deterioration of relations between Riyadh and Washington, noting that “the president said he would re-evaluate our relations with Saudi Arabia because it sided with Russia against the interests of the American people “, after the decision of the OPEC Plus alliance to reduce oil production quotas, which is in the interest of Moscow.

He added, “These relationships were built over decades with bipartisan support, so the president will not act in haste.”

The Biden adviser explained that among the possibilities presented in the context of re-evaluation of relations with Riyadh, “changes in our approach to military aid to Saudi Arabia.”
