Palestinian president calls for urgent meeting of the Palestinian leadership

RAMALLAH, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today called for an urgent meeting of the Palestinian leadership to be held on Thursday evening at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, according to the president's spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh.

"In view of the major challenges that continue at all levels by the Israeli side, whether they have to do with the withholding of Palestinian funds, or the continuation of the destructive and rejected settlement activities, and ending with the demolition of citizens' homes the most recent of which was in Wadi al- Hummus in Sur Baher, southeast of Jerusalem, his Excellency has called for an urgent meeting on Thursday evening to take important decisions in response to all these challenges and infringements," said Abu Rudeineh in a statement.

He said the meeting "will be a crossroad at all levels, with regard to the series of the rejected Israeli actions and ending with the American challenges and its attempt to support Israeli provocations and creating facts that have nothing to do with legality and Palestinian rights."
