Jeddah, Minister of Transport Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi received here today the first passengers' batch transported by the Harameen Express, during a field inspection.
The minister was reassured of the best of services being rendered to pilgrims and hindrances that they might face.
The minister was accompanied by the President of the Transport General Authority Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Railways Organization (SAR) Dr. Bashar bin Khalid Al-Malik and other senior staff.
The 450 km-long Harameen Express has a capacity to transport 158,000 pilgrims, through 64 shuttle trips per week, linking Makkah and Madinah, while the 20 km-long Holy Sites Train serves the pilgrims, transporting 360,000 pilgrims, in over 2000 trips, from and to Mina, Muzadlifa and Arafat.
